The Chapel and Cemetery was one of the first established in South Australia. Three of the main Families that used this chapel, moved north and helped established new Chapels in other areas. Elim overtime fell into disrepair, and was sold. It is also believed, that there were problems in the cemetery with the high water table. Only 5 or 6 burials took place here.

The site has had several uses since it was abandoned, it was used as a polo field for many years. During this period the head stones were placed against the fence. But today no trace exists of the cemetery.
