Pakenham Cemetery is located near the Princes Highway in the Berwick-Pakenham growth corridor. Pakenham township services a large area that until recently consisted mainly of cattle farms and orchards. Records for the cemetery appear to have commenced circa 1863.
The southeast corner of the cemetery holds 'the Garden of Unfilled Dreams' - a special area set aside for the burial of babies which is marked by a plaque placed by the Cemetery Trust and the Bonnie Babes Foundation to remember babies lost from miscarriage, stillbirth or prematurity.
Another plaque located near the front entrance at Thewlis Rd, has been erected by Tobin Brothers and dedicated to the memory of men buried in that part of the cemetery who resided at the nearby Salvation Army Home 1910-1915.
