In Memory of Thomas Creamer,
who died at Scone on the 27th May
1853, in the 34th
year of his age.
Thomas Creamer joined the staff of St
Luke’s school in 1852, as assistant teacher to the principal James Smith. On the 27th May 1853 Creamer aged 33 years died and his widow succeeded him as assistant
teacher. Smith resigned shortly after to
become clerk of petty sessions at Scone, leaving the school in the hands of Mrs Creamer, the school thrived
and in 1856 seventy children were enrolled.
Twenty years later the school closed when the then headmaster Mr Roberts
resigned and became headmaster of Scone Public School
which opened in July 1876.
