This is largely a private cemetery for the Gilbert Family.
GILBERT Memorials
Joseph, the first settler on Pewsey Vale Estate in 1839 and of Anna, his wife. Married 1848. This Church was built by them in 1861.
William, husband of Mary Young and only son of Joseph & Anna Gilbert born 12 Oct 1850, died 29 March 1923 at Pewsey Vale.
In 1885 he added to this Church a beautiful roof and in 1918 presented the church and grounds to the Diocese of Adelaide with an endowment.
Joseph, 2nd son of William and Mary Young Gilbert, born Pewsey Vale 7 Aug 1884, killed in action Gallipoli Peninsula 28 May 1915. An engineer in Westinghouse Works, Manchester, he joined the Territorial Forces, August 1914, B Coy 1/6th Battalion, Manchester Regiment.
John Driffield, youngest son of William and Mary Young Gilbert, born Pewsey Vale 31 Aug 1893, a Lieutenant in the Sussex Yeomanry and pilot in the R.F.C. Was appointed to the 56th Squadron in France. He flew out with a fighting patrol over Bas Warneton near Ypres on 18 Oct 1917 and did not return.
